                      Willard Sylvan Grove Lodge #250

I have been told that an organization is old because it’s good, not good because it’s old. This could not be more the case than with Willard Sylvan Grove #250. Originally born in the 3rd Manhattan District, on November 23, 1852. Willard Sylvan Grove Lodge is the result of many mergers. One hundred and sixty five years later here we are.

Legend has it, the lodge were the descendants of the order of Druids of England. Druids are a secret order of Priests. These Druids were known to communicate their beliefs through a secret language along with symbols that only they and other members of their order understood. The Druids called their Lodges, “Groves”. The Druids worshiped in Groves of trees. In honor of this history it is believed that the founders of this Lodge choose the name, “Sylvan Grove”, Sylvan meaning the Spirit or Deity of the Woods.

We are a lodge comprised of men from different faiths and walks of life. White Collar, Blue Collar and Entrepreneur’s. We seek knowledge, truth and an opportunity to grow and be challenged. We want to serve the Great Architect of the Universe with dignity and humility. As a Lodge, we strive in making our communities a better place. We know the true measure of any human life, is that life’s service to others. We meet on the level, act by the plumb and part upon the square. We meet on the third monday of every month, except July and August. Come on down, we look forward to meeting you.
